Springfield Academy of Arts & Academics began in 2004 as a high school which combines high academic standards with professional-level arts experiences to propel learning, engage passion, and empower transformation. The Springfield School District hired SOLARC to design and provide project management services for a 7,570 SF addition to the existing school, more than doubling its size. The addition includes three large classroom/studios, a commons area, a audio video editing room, staff rooms, a new reception area, restrooms and a rehearsal/dance space.

SOLARC planned the design schedule working backwards from the date that we wanted the contractor to start construction - the first day school was out. This gave us the bid date of May 6, 2008. We started the design of the project on December 20, 2007 and bid the project on schedule on May 6, 2008. The schedule was very aggressive. Each deliverable and milestone date was met by SOLARC. The schedule included public meetings, presentations and time for Owner approvals. Ultimately we successfully brought the project in under budget. This included a budget increase during construction for Owner added scope to the project.
