"Envisioning a Sustainable Resource Base"
A Bio-regional response to Peak Oil and Global Warming
The next Cascadia Commonwealth Institute Monthly Forum will draw together Eugene's best informed and most visionary energy planning and policy experts to share their insights on how we can meet our community's energy needs in a time of global warming and peak oil. The event will take place Monday 5/22/06 at 7:15pm at the Dharmalaya Center, 356 Horn Lane.

Their presentations will look holistically at anticipating and
responding to the approaching energy crisis, and will include topics such as:
1. the projected impacts of global warming and peak oil on energy supplies
2. new sustainable and regionally available energy sources
3. the embedded energy costs of alternative energy sources and technologies
4 opportunities for energy demand reduction through new systems
and technologies
5. opportunities for demand reduction through design changes in
the built environment
Short presentations by the panelists will be followed by ample time for questions and discussion by a well-informed audience.
This panel discussion is being co-organized by Ravi Logan and Doug Black and will be moderated by Doug Black, a lead organizer of Richard Heinberg's 1/10 Eugene program and an organizer with Eugene's Permatopia.org/ Post Carbon Institute's Eugene 'Outpost'.
