She holds a degree in structural engineering from the University of Wyoming and recently received her graduate degree in architecture from the University of Oregon.

Ahmann has a background in microbial energy systems, biofuels and field ecology, and will use her skills to evaluate green building performance and design. As a research fellow in the Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory at the University of Oregon, Ahmann assisted regional architects in the configuration of natural ventilation and daylighting systems.
